Fareham's new garden village will be one of 49  garden communities that have been designated by the Government  with the collective potential for the provision of hundreds of thousands of carefully planned new homes across the country with an emphasis on good design and sustainable living.

Welborne Planning Application

Fareham Borough Council has approved an outline planning application from Buckland Development Limited for up to 6,000 homes at Welborne Garden Village.  Now that this has been approved, the next stage will be for the developers to put forward a Strategic Design Code for consideration, and it is at this stage that we will see what the new community will look like.

Local Plan

The comprehensive development of Welborne as a new community based on Garden Community principles is set out in the Welborne Plan, which forms Part 3 of the Fareham Borough Local Plan, adopted in June 2015.

Two Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) have been adopted for Welborne to secure the satisfactory development of, and essential infrastructure for, Welborne and to set out the Council's expectations of the design of Welborne.
